Hsinghai Violin

November 1, 2007 at 04:41 AM · Hi,

Does anyone know Hsinghai violin? A friend of mine just gave me one, which she guarantees is at least 25 years old. Inside it is labeled "Made in the People's Democratic Republic of China" has the number 79 printed (the year it was made, perhaps?) and "No. 15403".

Thanks for your help,

Gustavo.

November 1, 2007 at 11:35 AM · Sorry, I mistyped it. It is only written "MADE IN THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF CHINA". It is also written in Chinese above the words in English.

November 1, 2007 at 12:33 PM · well, prc was founded around 1949, so from that angle it is not impossible. and that brand is a real brand as far as i remember. a commercial brand if i may add.

thus, with a violin like that, does it really matter the age?

your violin was born about the same time when some of the better chinese makers were born:)

November 2, 2007 at 12:29 AM · If it's a student violin made in China 25 years ago, keep it! It could be one of the worst violins ever made.
