August 12, 2007 at 05:10 PM · you can tell by listening to that cadenza that suaret must have been a monster violinist...

if youre anything like me you love music from the romantic era - there is so much unplayed music from then and Im always craving more

if i were as good as emil or rachel barton id be trying to get people interested in allowing me to record distribute and market romantic works that arent played and deserve attention

its great that hahn recorded the spohr but this is the tip of the iceberg, how i would love it if repin and ehnes and kavakos recorded all the viotti concertos and also unplayed pieces by beroit, rode, kreutzer, vieuxtemps, joachim, and yes suaret, im sure there are many more i havent mention that deserve attention

how i would love a cd full of world premere recordings of beroit especially

alot of people play and continue to do world premere recordings of new modern works which is great, i just think the romantic period deserves more attention before soloists focus on modern music

i hope the great performers and record execs out there are listening

August 13, 2007 at 07:00 PM · I've recently learned a couple of the Grand Etudes, Op 24. I like them quite a bit.
