I would like to inform you about the italian terms used to indicate parts of violin and involved in playing violin:
bridge...ponticello (is a little bridge)
strings..corde
fingerboard...tastiera (it's like a keyboard)
scroll...riccio (it means curl)
Tailpiece..cordiera (it comes from corde, or the place where the corde are)
f-holes...f (nothing simplest!)
chinrest...mentoniera (from mento which means jaw)
Pegbox...cavigliera (i don't jnow the origin!)
neck...manico (it means handle)
bow...arco
bow hair...crini
rosin...pece (it means pitch)

up bowing...arcata in su
down bowing...arcata in giù
rehair a bow...incrinare l'arco
vibrato...vibrato
saltato..saltato
picchettato...should be staccato in the same bowing
detache...detache
frog...tallone (it means heel)
forte...forte
piano...piano
bravo...BRAVO!!!

tailpiece...le cordier (also like in Italian)
fingerboard...la touche
And the best:
sound post...l'âme (literally, the 'soul' of the violin...!)
Up-bow: tirer; down-bow: pousser (literally pull and push, respectively)
Wirbel (DE)... pegs (EN)... piroli (IT).

strings..Saiten, but the string section is called 'Streicher', because that's what they do with the bow
fingerboard...Griffbrett (gripping-board)
scroll...Schnecke (snail)
Tailpiece..Saitenhalter
f-holes...F-Löcher (just the same thing)
chinrest...Kinnhalter
Pegbox...Wirbelkasten (Peg is 'Wirbel', but the word can also mean 'whirl' (v), or 'vertebra'...)
neck...Hals
bow...Bogen
bow hair...Bogenhaar
rosin...Kolophonium (almost like in French)

up bowing...Aufstrich (which, incidentally, is also something you spread on toast...)
down bowing...Abstrich
rehair a bow...einen Bogen neu beziehen
frog...Frosch (yes, that's a German frog)
