Joshua Bell conducts and plays the Beethoven Concerto

July 29, 2012, 8:45 PM · Joshua Bell conducts and plays the Beethoven Concerto, and life has never been the same.

Occasionally I read something in the news or learn something that I would like to share with the violinist.com community, but I don't know how. Now I'm introducing a fantastic new violin experience to our community in this brief blog entry. I was fortunate enough to hear Joshua Bell with the Academy of Saint Martin in the Fields conduct an all Beethoven program, including the Beethoven Concerto, which he played and conducted. Of course, the cadenza was his own. Attending that concert was truly one of the best experiences of my life. It's now on Youtube, and I can't recommend it strongly enough.

(Editor's note: the video was taken down, but here is a video from the same concert, featuring Bell leading Beethoven Symphony No. 7:)
