Shoulder rest and the height holding violin
Hello.I always wondering why young Heifetz and ion voicu can hold their violin in such a high position without shoulder rest.Won they feel tired or they using some technique I don't know?Leopold Auer even state violin should be hold as high as possible to achieve greater freedom(Violin playing as I teach it,page33).Did I miss something?
Also,I would like to ask is holding violin by arm completely correct or not cuz I observe some people can hold between chin and collarbone for a short time without shoulder rest
I would be happy if someone could answer me
