Il Cannone Silver strings for violin, the newest evolution in their Il Cannone series of strings.
On Monday Denmark-based Larsen Strings announced the release of their new"Designed with a bold, silvery sonic identity, Il Cannone Silver offers violinists a vibrant, overtone-rich voice that shines in both soloistic and ensemble settings," Larsen said in its announcement.
The set includes two different E strings: the "Silver E" is designed to be powerful, and the "Caprice E" is designed to be "sparkling and brilliant." The new Il Cannone Silver G and D strings are wound with 99.85% pure silver flat wire over a synthetic multi-filament core, designed to bring brilliance and depth across the lower register. The A string is wound with precision aluminium flat wire, designed to sing with brightness and even response.
"The Il Cannone Silver delivers what the name suggests: a silvery, clear tone. Brilliant. Strong," said Czech solo violinist and concertmaster of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra Josef Špacek, who is officially endorsing the strings. "The E and A strings offer great projection in big halls. When you play chords, the extra resonance is great – the other strings start supporting you right away and overtones are fantastic."
Another early adopters of the strings, Danish National Philharmonic Orchestra violinist Alexander Chiu, said that "in the concert hall, the Il Cannone Silver strings feel more bright and ring clearly. The top end of the strings are the best, and the lower end has a deeper sound than the Il Cannone Gold. They possess a silvery and pure sound."
