"I am thrilled to be joining the faculty at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music!" Zorman said on his Facebook page. "This is a legendary school, where some of my own mentors have worked— most recently, Professor Mauricio Fuks, whom I will be quoting often in lessons with the excellent students at IU. I have appreciated the nice atmosphere in Bloomington, and warm welcome from the wonderful faculty. I am looking forward to collaborating with them and starting this new chapter at IU this August."

Winner of the 2011 Tchaikovsky International Violin Competition and a recipient of a 2013 Avery Fisher Career Grant the 2014 Borletti-Buitoni Trust Award, Zorman, 40, began his studies in his native Tel-Aviv at the age of six with Saly Bockel at the Israeli Conservatory of Music. He earned his Bachelor of Music from the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance as a student of Hagai Shaham, and his Master of Music from The Juilliard School in 2009, where he studied with Robert Mann and Sylvia Rosenberg. He also earned Artist Diplomas from the Manhattan School of Music and Juilliard, and he studied with Christian Tetzlaff and Mauricio Fuks at the Kronberg Academy.

"It is with great pleasure that we welcome Itamar Zorman to our strings faculty,” said Simin Ganatra, Jacobs School Strings Department chair. "He is a wonderful musician and teacher, and we look forward to all he will bring to our students and community."

Zorman has performed as a soloist with numerous orchestras around the world, including the Israel Philharmonic, Mariinsky Orchestra and New World Symphony. Zorman plays on a 1734 Guarneri del Gesù from the collection of Yehuda Zisapel.

Academically, Zorman has held visiting positions at the Eastman School of Music, Indiana University and McDuffie Center for Strings and is a regular faculty member at the Bowdoin International Music Festival, Heifetz Institute and Keshet Eilon. He has also taught master classes at the Royal Academy of Music, San Francisco Conservatory and Duke University.

"Known for his intensely soulful performances, Itamar Zorman is one of the most evocative violinists of his generation," said Jacobs School dean Abra Bush. "We are thrilled that he will be carrying on the tradition of our storied Strings Department."
