Grieg Violin Sonatas
Duo Natalia
Natalia van der Mersch, violin
Natalia Kovalzon, piano

The Luxemberg-based Duo Natalia presents the three violin sonatas by Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg: "Norway’s fjords have their own sound – rough and tender at once, steeped in melancholy and yet full of vitality. Grieg distilled this very essence into three violin sonatas, documenting one of the most fascinating compositional developments of Romanticism." BELOW: Grieg's Violin Sonata No. 1 in F Major, Op. 8: II. Allegretto quasi andantino.

Fixations
Andrew McIntosh, composer/violinist/violist
Wild Up
Aperture Duo

Here is a study of dissonance, consonance and microtonal music: an album of music composed by Andrew McIntosh and performed by the string players of Wild Up and Aperture Duo. "Fixations is the first recording dedicated to McIntosh’s compositions for strings, highlighting his innovative use of just intonation and his radical reimagining of harmonic possibilities." BELOW: Fixations (2022-2024) for string octet: IX. Hymn.
