Violinist María Dueñas Named Gramophone's 'Young Artist of the Year'

October 17, 2025, 7:26 PM · On Wednesday Spanish violinist María Dueñas, 22, took home two major awards at the 2025 Gramophone Classical Music Awards in London: the Instrumental Award for her recording of Paganini: 24 Caprices; and Young Artist of the Year, an award sponsored by Classic FM.

"It’s a great pleasure and honor," said Dueñas, who also performed at the ceremony. "Thank you for believing in the power of youth and curiosity in the arts, thank you so much for this recognition."

Dueñas was not the only violin soloist who was honored; Norwegian violinist Vilde Frang won Gramophone's 'Concerto' Award for her recording of the Elgar Violin Concerto with Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin and Robin Ticciati.
