Patricia Kopatchinskaja performed Schoenberg’s Violin Concerto with the BBC Symphony Orchestra at the BBC Proms.
- The Guardian: "Playing with exceptional sweetness, especially in the upper register, and relishing each of Schoenberg’s motivic sidesteps, she unearthed several waltzes, a tango and a militaristic march along the way as she skittered and swerved through one of the toughest nuts in the repertoire."
- Back Track: "Dancing was rarely absent from Kopatchinskaja’s playing, so alert was her rhythmic response to this ever-shifting kaleidoscopic music....Kopatchinskaja’s virtuosity and dead-centre intonation, even at the top of the range, was stunning, and the orchestral challenges were superbly met too."
Paul Huang performed Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto with the Orchestra of the Music Makers in Singapore.
- The Flying Inkpot: "With playing that often felt almost improvised, he moulded phrase after phrase with intelligence and flexibility, with such a sense of fresh discovery that often it felt as if one was hearing them for the first time."
- The Straits Times: "In his hands, this warhorse sound freshly minted. His solo entry was arresting and made one sit up. Exhibiting faultless intonation, a gorgeous big tone and rich vibrato, his vision was redolent of great masters of the past - Jascha Heifetz, Nathan Milstein and David Oistrakh, just to name a few."
Karen Gomyo performed Dvorák’s Violin Concerto with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.
- Limelight: "Similarly impressive was the elegant brutality of solo violinist Karen Gomyo, leading the orchestra in her performance of the Dvorák’s Violin Concerto with immense precision and formidable speed."
Patrick Yim performed in recital with pianist Kiu Tung-Poon for The Piano Plus series in Olivebridge, New York.
- Boston Musical Intelligencer: "This intelligent interpretation showed that these musicians’ approach is far from casual."
Lindsey Stirling performed her "Duality Tour" show in Detroit.
- 519 Magazine: "In a dazzling display of her signature blend of masterful violin playing, intricate choreography, and stunning visuals, Lindsey Stirling enchanted the audience at the Michigan Lottery Amphitheatre"

@Christian: strange things happen at concerts one hasn't attended personally... .
That must be it, Richard; all I can imagine from "elegant brutality" is cannibalism on fine china, but enough about me.
