During the semi-finals, each violinists will perform a Mozart violin concerto with the Orchestre Royal de Chambre de Wallonie, conducted by Vahan Mardirossian. Candidates learn the jury's choice the day before their recital, and the programs are shown in the calendar on the QE website.
This year's unpublished compulsory work is called "The Sun and Her Flowers" for violin and piano, composed by British composer Charlotte Bray, who will be present when the work premieres on Monday. Learn more about that work here.

Christian, last week I happened to attend the first-round session where Meruert Karmenova played, I was blown away by her, but the overall level is incredibly high.
I'm curious if you have some favorite competitors so far?

May 13, 2024 at 04:12 AM · I didn't even realize this was going on. I really like Joshua Brown from the last Indianapolis Competition, and it's a bummer that Meruert Karmenova didn't make it after her 2nd place in the last Wieniawski.
