Alexander Melnikov, piano
Boris Faust, viola

German violinist Isabelle Faust performs Benjamin Britten's 1939 Violin Concerto, in a recording that was taken live from an October 2021 concert with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Jakub Hruša. The album also features a number of other early chamber works by Britten, notably, the recorded premiere of his Two Pieces for Violin, Viola and Piano from 1929, which Faust performs with her brother, violist Boris Faust, and pianist Alexander Melnikov. There is also the Suite for Violin and Piano, Op 6, and "Reveille," both from the late 1930s. BELOW: Britten's Suite for Violin and Piano, Op. 6: III. Lullaby.

Vivaldi – The Four Seasons
Luka Faulisi, violin
Orkiestra Historyczna, concertmaster Martyna Pastuzka conducting

Italian-Serbian-French violinist Luka Faulisi, age 21, performs with the Polish baroque ensemble Orkiestra Historyczna (oh!), directed by concertmaster and ensemble leader Martyna Pastuzka. Along with Vivaldi's "The Four Seasons," Luka has chosen three corresponding pieces: the Catalan traditional "Song of the Birds," Lili Boulanger’s "Nocturne" and Tchaikovsky’s "Autumn Song." Having started to play the violin at the age of three, Luka was a student of Boris Belkin at the Conservatorium Maastricht in the Netherlands. This is his second album, after his 2023 debut recital album Aria with pianist Itamar Golan. BELOW: Trailer for the album:
