Maintaining your Violin or Viola: a Checklist

December 27, 2024, 9:23 AM · Are you up-to-date on your instrument maintenance? It's important to take care of your fiddle, and the holiday season is a good time to take assessment of its condition.

I've compiled a checklist to help you make sure your instrument is getting the maintenance it needs. I've also included links to stories that go more in-depth, to help with any specific maintenance issues that may come up:

I hope this check-list helps you maintain the health of your instrument, as well as your own sense of well-being, in regard to your instrument and your playing.

December 28, 2024 at 01:42 AM · It would help if Manhasset could provide a wing nut and thumb screw for the fasteners that we're always tightening. Whenever I'm going to a rehearsal, for instance at a public school or church, where I know there will be a lot of Manhasset stands, I arrive early and I have a small adjustable wrench in my violin case.
