Immunity
Joshua Roman, cello

Immunity is an intimate musical exploration of cellist Joshua Roman’s life-altering, inspiring experience of ongoing long Covid, with music ranging from J.S. Bach to George Crumb to Caroline Shaw, as well as Roman’s own compositions. The album portrays an emotional journey through music, as the cellist confronts the impact of the illness and the limitations that nearly ended his career, progressing through a period of doubt, struggle, refocus, and renewal that culminates in a profound acceptance of self and a deeper connection to what's most important in life. Roman will tour Immunity to Long Covid Clinics across the United States throughout the fall of 2024, including New York City, Philadelphia, Seattle, Portland, Kansas City, St. Louis. See his concert schedule here BELOW: Joshua Roman talks about his experience with long Covid and how it affected his life as a musician.

Film Fantasia
Emily Sun, violin

London-based Australian violinist Emily Sun presents her album "Film Fantasia," which centers around the world premiere of "Fantasie im Wintergarten," written by Elena Kats-Chernin for Emily and Adelaide Symphony Orchestra, where she premiered it last year as the ASO’s Artist in Association (2023-2024). She will perform the United Kingdom premiere on October 24 with BBC National Orchestra of Wales conducted by Gemma New. Other pieces on the album include John Williams’ "Theme from Schindler’s List" and the Korngold Violin Concerto. Emily performs on the c. 1753-57 "Adelaide" Guadagnini, on loan from UKARIA. Ink Traces
Julia Glenn, violin
Konstantinos Valianatos, piano

"Ink Traces" reflects violinist Julia Glenn’s 15-year journey exploring Chinese culture and interactions between Chinese language and music, fueled by frequent trips and three years living in China. The album blends poetry, dance, painting, calligraphy, and music - illustrating the intersection of gesture and sound. The title was inspired in part by Pan Kai's "Ink Traces of Sigh" for solo violin. A Boston native, Glenn is a member of the Lydian String Quartet and the faculty at Brandeis University. She previously taught at the Tianjin Juilliard School and wrote her doctoral dissertation on "Hearing in Tone," which explores a linguistic approach to the analysis and performance of Chinese contemporary music. She is a Fulbright awardee and Harvard, NEC, and Juilliard graduate. BELOW: From the album, "In Traces of Sigh" by Pan Kai:
