The Week in Reviews, Op. 402: Aubree Oliverson; Gidon Kremer, Maxim Vengerov, the Emerson String Quartet
In an effort to promote the coverage of live violin performance, Violinist.com each week presents links to reviews of notable concerts and recitals around the world.

Violinist Aubree Oliverson.
Aubree Oliverson performed Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach's Flute Concerto in D minor, transcribed for violin, with Kontrapunktus.
- San Francisco Classical Voice: "Violin soloist Aubree Oliverson transcribed the flute part herself and played it from memory, her focused tone projecting well, even in the dry theater. The energetic last movement frothed to a moody finish, coordinated nicely between soloist and orchestra, that got the audience on its feet with applause."
Gidon Kremer, Maxim Vengerov, the Emerson String Quartet, cellist Steven Isserlis and others performed a concert at Carnegie Hall to honor human rights champion Andrei Sakharov.
- New York Classical Review: "A pandemic intervened, but on May 21, 2023, which would have been Sakharov’s 102nd birthday, the musical tribute came off, with a near-capacity house taking in nearly three hours of lively music-making with ten musicians performing works by six composers. And almost no speeches."
Deborah Buck performed in recital with pianist Orli Shaham for Bargemusic.
- Blogcritics: "Buck and Shaham rose (or swayed) to the challenge mightily..."
Hyeyoon Park, cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason and pianist Benjamin Grosvenor performed Beethoven's Triple Concerto with the Hallé Orchestra.
- The Guardian: "Thematic material, often introduced by the cello and answered by the violin, was most expressively phrased: Kanneh-Mason and Park were well matched in sweetness of tone, with Grosvenor’s crystalline playing adding elegant flourishes to complement the strings. "
Nicholas Wright performed Korngold’s Violin Concerto in D Major with the York Guildhall Orchestra.
- York Vision: "The opening to the concerto allowed Wright to showcase his impressive control of the upper registers of his instrument, with the orchestra providing the delicate yet substantial accompaniment so key to the concerto performance."
