"The slow movement from Bach’s A Minor Concerto was the reason that, at the age of four, I knew I wanted to play the violin for the rest of my life," said violinist Arabella Steinbacher. "Of course, I had no idea at the time what that would really mean — but I was so overwhelmed by the beauty and depth of Bach’s music that there was no question for me: I simply had to become a musician!" Her new album includes three major concerti by J.S. Bach concerti — the A minor, E major, and D minor Double Concerto, alongside solo works by living minimalist composer Arvo Pärt, Fratres and Spiegel im Spiegel. "For me, Pärt’s music represents our human nature, the inner struggle that we must deal with repeatedly throughout our lives," she said. BELOW: Trailer for the album:

Royal Northern Sinfonia

In his 12 years as Music Director of the Royal Northern Sinfonia, Zehetmair was noted both for bringing compelling new music into the repertoire and for insightful performances of classical and modern composition. The album includes the premiere recording of British composer John Casken’s "That Subtle Knot," written in 2012-3 for Zehetmair, Ruth Killius and the Northern Sinfonia. Killius also performs Bartók’s Viola Concerto; and the album includes Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5. BELOW: Ruth Killius performs Bartók's Viola Concerto, III. Allegro vivace:
