Recently I interviewed violinist Augustin Hadelich while he was in Los Angeles to perform the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto with the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra (LACO), and I wanted to share with you the second half of this interview, which I did in partnership with LACO. In it, Augustin talks about the 1744 "Leduc/Szerying" Guarneri "del Gesù" violin that he has been playing now since 2020. He also explains some history of "del Gesù" - many people know about Antonio Stradivari, but fewer know about his contemporary, the equally revered maker Giuseppe Guarneri "del Gesù"! Please enjoy!
(Click here to see Part 1, in which he spoke about his musical upbringing, and he talked at length about the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto.)

Hadelich is charming and you two have a wonderful rapport. I am so appreciative of the opportunity to hear his thoughts on the Mendelssohn and to discover the history of his amazing violin.
Excellent interview, I truly enjoyed it.
Like Hilary Hahn, to me he's very grounded and natural.
Not a diva by any stretch
