Violinist Ray Chen To Present Free Livestream Masterclass Sunday
Violinist Ray Chen will give a masterclass on Sunday in Taiwan, which will be livestreamed around the world, free of charge. The master class begins at 4 a.m. Pacific, and 7 a.m. Eastern -- fortunately, it will be available to watch for 48 hours following the livestream, which means you can watch it any time on Sunday and early Monday. Watch Ray's masterclass here:
Ray will work with four Taiwanese students -- Yun Lee, Huei-Ciao Yang, Pei-Cheng Chu and Wei-Lin Chen – who will perform for a live audience of 600 people. The masterclass will be conducted in both English and Chinese. The masterclass precedes four concerts that Chen will perform with the Taiwan Philharmonic, on September 19, 25, 26, and October 4 to launch the orchestra’s 2020/21 season. Chen will play Saint-Saëns’ Violin Concerto No. 3, as well as works by Bach.
Ray Chen, who was born in Taiwan and grew up in Australia, is a top soloist who is also known for his humorous and engaging online presence. His "Play with Ray" contest in 2019 drew more than 800 worldwide applicants from student and amateur violinists, three of whom were chosen to play with Ray at a Hollywood Bowl concert with the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
