I can't believe how long it's been since I've blogged on Violinist.com! Six years ago at this time, I was nearing the end of my first semester at Kent State University. During my time there I built up a respectable studio and reputation as a freelance violinist, auditioned for the DMA without success, and, in the end, decided to embark on a new path: Arts Administration.
So, with the full support of my teachers and mentors, I enrolled in The University of Akron's Arts Administration program. Overall, it was a great experience: I got an in-depth look into how nonprofits work, was able to continue freelancing since the school was just down the road, and I discovered that I really like marketing!
Which brings me to today! After a few years of working for organizations and freelancing, I've recently started my own Public Relations firm for classical musicians offer website, social media, and graphic design services. Plus, I've started a new blog! It'll cover a wide variety of topics, but one that is near and dear to my heart is helping young musicians figure out how to prepare success while they're in school! This includes the essential elements of a press packet, social media, website, and more!
Check out my first blog entry here!
Much more to come and I'm excited to re-engage with this special community of string players!
Until next time!
