Boveda for violin case: yet another thread

May 21, 2023, 10:24 PM · Just curious if anyone has had this device behave as advertised and maintain humidity at 50 percent. I put it in my case with both inserts in the little brown sack and am getting 42 percent in a dry/air conditioned environment and 63 percent in a humid environment (by the beach). Was in each environment for over a week. Digital hygrometer very accurate. Case is carbon fiber with a good seal. Thank you.

May 22, 2023, 3:41 PM · I'm sort of paranoid about the packs leaking. How do you really keep them safely in your case?
May 22, 2023, 7:09 PM · You know they're dead when they are no longer squishy. The gel turns to hard crystals after maybe 2 or 3 months, and then needs replacement.
