atascadero state hospital violin

May 7, 2023, 8:40 PM · i bought a violin at a flea market the other day and i noticed a sticker on the bottom that read atascadero state hospital on it with a serial number ,and the number also appears on the back of the neck ,carved in .
i didn't think much of it just oh wierd a violin used in a hospital ,all that changed when i looked it up .

do you think there's people out there who collect violins with a strange story to them ?
i thought to myself if only this violin could talk ,it was made in 1957 in mittenwald . it makes me wonder why is it, it made it's way out of there to end up at a flea market in 2023 . there is a musical program there but it doesn't mention violin ,only piano, guitar for someone who might want to work there . any thoughts on this?
