Go well Raphael :) Fun program...
Maybe I should say something about the program: My La Folia is, in a sense, a debut as it is my own synthesis of my favorite variations from the Leonard and Kreisler versions.
My Twinkleiana had two inspirations - Mozart’s own variations on Twinkle and Milstein’s Paganiniana. In each variation I take the basic outline of Twinkle and merge it with the contours of another piece - mostly by Paganini. It’s quite a workout! Just because I wrote it doesn’t mean that it’s easy for me!
I suppose it is not really a spoiler alert here to mention the encore: Gluck’s Melodie from Orpheus.
If anyone would like a copy of the flyer/program, write to me at violinist@rkviolin.com and I will be glad to send you a pdf. I don’t know how to put it up here.
I'm preparing the Svendsen Romance for an upcoming recital, too. And in the fall I'm going to try to perform it with our community orchestra.
But my own Twinkleiana is overtly virtuosic. It is akin to Milstein’s Paganiniana. Each variation ties some of the harmonies and contours of Twinkle with that of a different piece - most often a Paganini caprice. Different variations feature different techniques such as double harmonics, staccato and left hand pizzicato.
Anyway I will soon do my best to share some music with some nice people in the audience.
