Higher end violin shopping in SLC, UT

Edited: January 11, 2022, 9:12 PM · I have been playing on the same mid level student instrument since high school. It sounds alright, got me through college orchestra, chamber music, teaching the last 12 years, and I'll probably keep it for my plug in gig instrument. But I have been in the market for a better instrument for a while. I would like to shop in person.

There are a few shops in Salt Lake City, but I actually don't live there, and don't drive. I live an hour away. So it would be helpful to have a few knowledgable and experienced people help me weed through the chaff. I am thinking Peter Prior? Scoggins? Moroz? Anyone have any amazing experiences or feedback on SLC area violin shopping? Looking in the 5k-10k range.

Bonus question: Who in SLC does a good bow rehair?

My friend Dan Salini, Salini Violins, would be happy to help you!

You have to weed through the chaff as no one else can do it for you, said as a shop owner and violin maker trained in SLC.

Adam Day or Charles Liu both have shops located further south. I've had good experiences with all these shops. Best of luck in your search!
