Summer Music Festivals

April 13, 2021, 11:29 AM · Hi everyone,
I have been looking into music festivals (high school student) and was looking at the Heifetz Music Institute. All the players sound amazing and seem very talented, and I was wondering what level you have to be to get accepted as a high school student, since I know the age varies a lot. Is there anyone here that has been accepted and could tell me what they played/ at what level? Do you have to bean extremely talented prodigy to get in?

April 13, 2021, 12:15 PM · I went last year when it was virtual. The level was quite varied. I know some kids who were absolutely spectacular and others who were just very good. I played stamitz concerto and some Bach at quite a good level. It’s expected your playing romantic concerti by the time your there and the level of performance is very high.

I am playing romantic concerti, solo Bach, and Paganini caprices. I'm just curious about what level it has to be at in order to be accepted.
Edited: April 13, 2021, 4:31 PM · Have you applied yet? In theory at least the application period is closed, but the waitlist is still open. The format with so many teachers in each studio seems good for trial lessons before heading off to college or grad school.

Any other ideas for good in-person programs? Bonus point for requiring a vaccine card :-). Most of the other good programs that haven't switched to virtual seemed to only be taking applicants from 2020.
