Thinking of purchasing again from IF Strings
I have bought an Ex Heifetz model in the past that I'm very pleased with in comparison to other violins I've had. I'm considering their Private stock, however, wanted to get others' opinions. I know its more safe to buy in-store but why spend so much extra money when you can get one that is materially equivalent much cheaper?
Personally I think IF Strings Private Stock instruments are of good quality and sound fine, but they don't look that great and are a bit overpriced for what you get, based on all the videos and sound samples I've seen. I'd be more likely to go for a Holstein Premium bench model, or a Klaus Heffler, or in that price point you can also find a good bespoke Bulgarian violin as well. Good luck!
Where are you sourcing your Bulgarian violins these days, Richard?
Rumen Spirov is excellent; I love the sound of his instruments; they are slightly above the price of an IF Private Stock, but far above in sound and appearance. I believe Jivko Starchev is in a similar price point as well though I'm not certain.
