William Halsey Bow and violin

November 13, 2020, 1:18 PM · Hello,

I would like to get all of my musical instruments insured, and am hoping for some assistance on estimating the value of two specific pieces. I know the value of my guitars, my mandolins, ukulele's but am uncertain of the value on my violin and bow.The violin was made by William Halsey, and the bow was also made by William Halsey. If anyone might have any insight on how much I should insure them for I would love to hear your thoughts.

Thanks,
Dem

I found nothing for violins made by him.

In any event you will need appraisal documentation for the insurance company.

You need to go to a shop where they do this (for a fee) like Potter's and they will give you a certificate of insurance evaluation. The fee might be $50 to $150 depending on where you live. I think Dalton Potter will do the violin, bow, and case for a single price.

Any shop will need to the see and inspect the items in person to do a formal appraisal. If you are local to Michigan and can't get ahold of him, feel free to reach out, I'd be able to help you with that.
