Ricochet help

August 8, 2019, 3:19 PM · So I am learning the string crossing ricochet similar to the one in the Mendelssohn violin cadenza except that the one I'm learning is in Scene de Ballet. My teacher has pointed out that my up bow is faster than my down bow. How can I fix that?

Also am I doing ricochet right? I tried to follow James Ehnes' tutorial on Youtube.
- start in upper half
-try to keep bow hand relaxed
-accent first note of down bow
-try to keep bow straight

Thanks in advance!

Ease up a bit with your index finger and be sure that your thumb in particular is loose.
