repeated slurred string crossings help

August 4, 2019, 2:43 PM · Hi everyone,

As I mentioned on my last post, I'm learning the 3rd movement of the Mendelssohn. I've hit yet another annoying roadblock: the 8 eight repeated slurred string crossings at the bottom of the first page. I tried using slowing it down and then speeding it up with a metronome, but I can only get it to around 140ish before it refuses to get any faster. What other tips/exercises should I use when practicing this section (I didn't get the chance to discuss it with my teacher yet)? When I watch everyone else do it on youtube, it seems so effortless and easy; it feels like I'm the only one that has this issue.
