Midwestern Classical Music venues

Edited: July 18, 2019, 2:29 PM · There are certainly advantages in living in the same city as the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis. No competitions this next season, but there is a Laureate Series, and for a reasonable price (I sprung for season tickets)

The Indianapolis Symphony seems able to draw very good violinists, and I've 4 great tickets for next season as well. I am thankful my teacher told me about the Laureate series.

Obviously Chicago is able to draw world-class talent, but are there other venues in Illinois/Michigan/Ohio/Kentucky that I should keep out an eye for? I don't have much of a travel budget, but one never knows what might turn up. I want to expose myself to as much live classical music that I can fit into both budget and schedule. YouTube, Spotify, and CDs are all great - but nothing replaces live music.
