Need a Good Ear Training Book

March 26, 2019, 4:16 PM · My son uses Marta Arkossy Ghezzo's Solfege, Ear Training, Rhythm, Dictation, and Music Theory in his pre-college program. (He is in 8th grade.) It comes with a CD. But I would say this is more of a college level text that likely would be difficult for most kids, especially if it is not being used in a classroom setting. It does come with a CD.

What is your goal for using it? Group? Individual students?

March 28, 2019, 1:30 PM · Hi Daniel, Ear training is a worthwhile goal, but I am skeptical --how can a book train an ear?? There are better resources. Do you have a piano? Can you be specific about what kind of ear training you want?
March 28, 2019, 5:31 PM · Erin Sabrini, a book can be very good for ear training because a book can tell you what to do. That will be the point of the book.
