Violin and Viola Doubler solo Repertoire

February 17, 2019, 7:44 AM · Hey All,

I am looking for pieces that involve a single player having to play multiple instruments (like the violin AND the viola) in the same piece. My guess is there are little to none currently written, but if you know of any, could you let me know?

Thank you in advance!

Found a video of him performing a modern piece for two violas, one violist. He was sitting. One viola sat there on the ground, I think, tapped, strummed, or played pizzicato (with the second, under chin, also pizzicato). The outlier was increasingly incorporated into the "conversation" with a chuckle-component at the end when he chinned both violas at once while his facial expression said, "How do I make them both speak at once?"
If the name/composer/performer comes to me, I'll post again.

ng is that this type of doubling is not unheard of, but is extremely rare.
