Tension of Goldbrokat and Westminster E strings
Does anyone know where I can find the tension and specifications for the Goldbrokat and Westminster medium gauge E strings?
Thanks in advance!
No. I perceive the Goldbrokat to have lower tension, but that could just be my hearing a sweeter sound than the Westminster, which sounds more bell-like and bright to me.
7.8 kp for Goldbrokat. Westminster Medium should not be too heavier or lighter than that.
You can roughly calculate the tension of a steel E with a digital caliper and a calculator. I think most steel E strings will have very similar densities and any small differences in the material won't matter much.
E string tension range from 16lbs to about 19 lbs for medium gauge. Larsens are on the low end, Warchal Brilliant at the upper end.
