Viola Weich Spirocore Tungsten C compared to Mittel

November 6, 2018, 12:03 PM · I just put on a Mittel Spirocore C on my 15.5" 1926 EHRoth. I was playing a Kaplan AMO tungsten C, which has a softer feel under the finger, but is less articulate. I'm considering trying the weich Sp C for a softer feel like I get on the weich C string on my contrabass.
Has anyone played the mittel and weich that can share an opinion.

Edited: November 6, 2018, 12:29 PM · Another difference between mittel and weich on bass is increased playability up around the octave on the C without the chronic choking tone common to many strings up there. Whether on viola or bass, sometimes I just want sul C or to just stay up in those positions instead of shifting back down for a couple of notes.
