Best sound at ends of bow, not middle????

October 24, 2018, 1:54 AM · The teacher I checked out on Monday was telling me that the best sound on the bow comes from the top 1/3 or the bottom 1/3, not the middle. This is the first time I've heard this.

Is this true? Seems like it is the opposite of what my previous teacher told me.

It is easiest to get the most power at the frog, but more difficult to control the bow.

But sound? That is the result of too many variables to make such a sweeping generalization.

Or maybe your teacher has a bow hold which creates an unsteady transition somewhere in the middle.
