28.25 Inch bow and Durro Ebony inlaid violin bridge?
I recently acquired an old 4/4 violin and it came with a case that opened from the top, a 28.25 in bow, and a Durro bridge.
What's funny is that an average 4/4 bow would be 29-29.5 inches, and the average 3/4 bow is like 27 inches or 27.5.
So question one: is this bow that I have a 7/8 violin bow?
Next up is the Durro violin bridge (Baroque style). It is made of maple, with ebony inlaid into the wood, around .5 cm into the bridge. I've never heard of Durro bridges and a broad search on the internet didn't help.
So question two: Has anyone heard of Durro bridges?
These sorts of questions are why you're only a "meh" violinist.
Are you sure it's not a cello bow? Standard length of a cello bow is 28.25. A cello bow weighs approx. 80 grams and a violin bow approx. 60.
