Hi all. This is 2 questions essentially. How does one go about selecting a program? Ie. What pieces to put in it? And secondly, if writing programme notes for the concert, what would you include in it?
What kind of concert? A full-length recital with intermission? A shorter, one-hour recital without intermission? Who is your audience? General audience, students, children, the elderly?
And to add to Mary Ellen's question: Is your audience not really into classical music? Familiar but not regular classical concert-goers? Regular concert-goers, but not adventurous in taste? More adventurous, knowledgeable folks?
As for the program notes:
If you want shorter program notes -- for instance, enough to fit on one side of a half-sheet of paper, as I've seen people do in order to economize -- it's sufficient to have your bio, your pianist's bio, and a list of the pieces.
Well its a concert for 2 violins and violin/viola. And it'll be a mixed audience I think
