Appraisal in Chicago
Got a friend in Chicago who was given an old German violin. Can you suggest a reliable shop in Chicago to appraise - and restore as needed?
Carl Becker and Son, Paul Becker is really nice and knows his stuff. They are the oldest violin shop in the country going back 5 generations. Give them a call!
My friend Ryan McLaughlin has a shop there. He is trustworthy and skilled, and a nice guy to boot!
Thank you Anthony and Paul!
I would suggest Seman Violins, which is just north of the city. https://www.semanviolins.com/ Run and staffed pretty much entirely by makers. They are great at what they do.
