"Devil's Violinist" Caprice 24 ending - not Paganini's?
I'm not remotely close to working on Paganini's caprices so I'm not familiar with how they're written. Garrett's ends on a run up to an intense high A. I hear what sounds like this A in other renditions but with more bars to follow. Did the producers edit it that way for dramatic impact?
For that matter when listening to various renditions on Youtube no one seems to play the ending bars exactly the same way. Is it written to be ad-libbed or is it just common for soloists to take liberties with pieces?
Garrett did a lot of mix-and-match with the music in that film to be more true to the character of Paganini as an insuppressible improviser.
