How to vibrato on Mendelssohn high C?
I've tried switching from 4th finger to 3rd finger but i still can't seem to do vibrato on the high C in the 2nd Mov of the Mendelssohn. I've also been struggling to make the note sound secure and stable whilst "attempting" to do vibrato for the full 6 quaver beats. Any tips? Thank you.
I normally have an arm vibrato. However, I've found that for some very high notes, I got a better result by momentarily switching to more of a wrist vibrato. Might be worth experimenting with.
I am not very good at this myself but my violin teacher explained to me many times that vibrato high up needs to be both narrower (since the string is shortened very significantly) and faster.
