Pieces Around Difficulty of the Korngold Violin Concerto?
I was just wondering: what pieces can you, personally, think of that are around the technical/musical difficulty of the Korngold Violin Concerto in D Major? I am sure there are many--just wondering on the thoughts!
Pretty much the mainstream Romantic concerto repertoire.
I remember Elmar Oliveira said to me last year that the Korngold Concerto, is as challenging technically in his opinion, as some Paganini works - especially in the last movement. He said ‘it requires the violinist to have the technique of a Paganini and the ability to sing on the instrument like a Caruso. With Heifetz, Korngold got both!’
i like to compare it to sibelius.
Wow! That's quite interesting.
