July 23, 2018, 2:20 PM · I almost did not post this topic being so trivial in the land of experts.
On the other hand there are always those looking to improve.
My experience may be unusual. I was in a small violin "studio" ( 2 people ) where a woman was giving lessons in the kitchen. I began to play in a separate room. Then I heard a distinct command of "lighter". (What could mean? ). She continued on with yet another "lighter" (huh?).

Fast forward few years.

I was changing strings and noticed that the violin sounded great but I was just skimming on the way up to regular tension.

BOTTOM LINE

A surprisingly light touch transformed EVERYTHING
The "light" lady was RIGHT.
And now the violin plays somewhere around what I paid for it!
