How to cut the 1st movement of the Mendelssohn concerto?

July 16, 2018, 3:00 PM · Hi everyone,

I have local competitions coming up, and I'm planning to perform the first movement of the Mendelssohn concerto. Unfortunately, due to time constraints, I would have to cut the movement down to around 8 minutes.
I've already reduced some of the piano part, however, even with this, at my tempo, the movement is timed at 13 minutes.
Does anyone have some ideas on where to cut some spots in the Mendelssohn to fit that time frame?

Kind regards,
K

Not very fulfilling but something at least. I'v come up with so many cuts for different timings but unfortunately I can't remember them all.

Edit -by coda I meant the entire closing section after the recap second theme, not just the very end of course.
