The Cozio Carteggio

Edited: July 14, 2018, 9:34 AM · If you are interested in reading about violins and other string instruments you might enjoy the newsletter from Tarisio, the auction house. Every few weeks it arrives by email with an article about a different maker or school of makers - or a specific instrument. All of these articles have been collected at the following URL.

I've been receiving the Tarisio newsletters for years. I started saving them to an email folder a few weeks ago and then searched and found this website. "Tarisio" was the protagonist of the book, "The Violin Hunter," the man who collected old violins in Italy and delivered them to Vuillaume in France.

July 14, 2018, 11:16 AM · My chief grouse with the Cozio Carteggio is how ludicrously its content is weighted towards the Italian violin-making mafia. There seems to be scarcely anything of interest about English, German, even French instruments and their makers.
