June 8, 2018, 12:30 AM · When doing the string crossings, should you maintain the pressure to "bite" the string or should there be no pressure during the crossings?

June 8, 2018, 1:50 AM · One strategy is to maintain just enough weight to cross the middle string without causing it to vibrate.

Fundamental to staccato, martele, colle, is the ability to pinch the string and quickly release as you draw the bow. So pinch, draw, end with a pinch, like pizzicato with the bow.

But in addition you should practice finishing each stroke on the new string, with a smooth cross from the upper arm. Also apply to various lengths of bow, at various parts of the bow.
