Mannes vs. Manhattan vs. Juilliard

March 29, 2018, 10:26 AM · As people have replied in other post comparing Eastman to these schools, you really have to look at the student-teacher relationship first. Juilliard is obviously the most prestigious, and people outside of music have never heard of the other two. So if you want to impress people, then go to Juilliard. And it may open a few more doors. It doesn't mean you'll get a better education, though.

But you can go to a prestige school and get stuck with a poor teacher, one that should have been put out to pasture years before, or is a known child molester, or burned out.

So the best advice for those gaining entry into schools is to go and take several lessons with the assigned teacher. If you won't know the teacher until after the acceptance deadline for the other schools, I'd consider that a big problem.
