Sound and Motivation

March 20, 2018, 10:11 AM · So many threads about sound and about motivation got me thinking. When I like the way I sound I am almost always motivated. It is usually when I am not happy with the way I sound that my motivation goes downhill. So one way of helping motivation is to practice sound. To practice it in a way that limits the possibility of things going wrong so that one is in a positive frame of mind. I find that very helpful so I made a video showing how I work at this.

Jeff: I have thought about making a book of violin exercises, especially since I learnt some really good unusual ones from Ruggiero Ricci but I decided to make videos instead because a lot of the things are difficult to explain just with words. They need to be demonstrated.
I owe my accent to british-colonial heritage :)
