Happy birthday Maxim Vengerov!

August 21, 2006 at 01:10 AM · Thanks to the handy V.com Violinist Birthday List, it has been brought to my attention that today (August 20) is Maxim Vengerov's 32nd birthday! HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAXIM, good luck and good health to you! Keep up the fantastic playing, keep learning new things, and keep being nicely eccentric! :) lol I will celebrate today by practicing extra. :)

Hmm, August 20....oh! Patriotic greetings to all my fellow Hungarians! (or to be more accurate in my case, those who have a bit of Hungarian ancestry from way back when and are intensely proud of it.) Today is also St. Stephen's Day, the feast day of Hungary's patron saint! I know it's random, but I just couldn't resist.

Hmm, hold the phone, not quite so random after all....I've just remembered that the Russian word for a Hungarian is "vengerets", from which the name Vengerov is obviously derived. And we have come full circle, pardon my incoherent ramblings on the way. Happy birthday Maxim! Hajrá Magyarország!
