August 1, 2006 at 04:35 AM · There are more than one set of Etudes. I bought one of them through Elibron.com but have never played them. Alard also wrote quite a few violin pieces that aren't much played today. Elibron has some of them, too.

I'll bet Jonathan Frohnen, who posts here frequently, has lots of his music.

By the way, he had a Strad which is now named after him. Vuillaume copied it, I think, many times.

As said, he wrote a lot of studies.

6 etudes op 2

10 melodic etudes op 10 (2 vl)

10 etudes Brilliantes op 16 (2 vl)

10 etudes Artistiques op 19

10 caracteristic etudes op 18 (excists with piano)

24 Etude-Caprices op 41

20 etudes de genre op 53

August 1, 2006 at 12:33 PM · I just read them , but I see I only have 12 of them. Still, I like many of them, nr.5 is very interesting, 10 too.

I am going to try find the score for the 24th,Bolero, Mattias, you made me curious about it.

August 3, 2006 at 03:05 AM · hehe, love you too Jordan :-)~

But, yes KG I have a large amount of music by Delphin Alard. He was one of the best when it came creating fantasies on opera themes of his day for our instrument.

My favorite Alard piece in my collection is the op.1 Grand Fantasy for violin and orchestra...do you have that Matty? :-)~

Oh and back to the thread topic...the 24 studies in all the keys are fine for study...not for performance, not Alards best work.
