Well, it's a little late to be thinking about it for this year, but as I'm already making resolutions (to be broken, I'm sure) to get my holiday shopping earlier next year, I was wondering about good gifts for music teachers. Do you get sick of violin-themed knick-knacks? Do you prefer something personal from your student? Would you prefer not to get anything at all?
For my young daughter's violin teacher, with whom she's been studying less than a month, I gave a set of cards with beautiful black and white violin photographs on them.
For my own violin teacher, with whom I have a wonderful relationship and love dearly, even though I've only been working with her for seven months, I'm giving a small framed photograph of the two of us standing together with our violins and a handwritten card attempting to explain how grateful I am to have her as my teacher.
What are the rest of you giving or getting?
