I don't think we've tried this one yet. Can we get together a listing of all Strads that have nicknames, along with pictures of them or at least some sort of descriptions? In particular, I am looking for the "nickname" of a Strad which has half carat diamonds in each of the pegs as well as the tailpiece.
I am sure that this has already been done in books, but I just don't feel like shelling out $100 for a picture book just quite yet. :-)
Any takers?

Hey Chris,
I actually signed up for cozio but the one I am looking for is not up there... I keep forgetting the name, I believe it was the Waldorf... or something like that... I do remember that it had diamond studs. And it sounded fantastic.
I believe you are refering to the Woolhouse Strad from 1720. It belonged to Felix Galimir and was mounted with diamond fitings when I played it.

December 8, 2005 at 12:36 PM · Hi,
Igor: The list is available on the following site - www.cozio.com. Some have pics, but some pics are available only to registered members. However, their is a detailed list of fiddles with their nicknames which is quite complete.
Cheers!
